His Footprints
A very, very long time ago, cavemen etched on cavewalls with primitive stone tools what was to be the earliest evidence of the instinctual human need for self expression. A little later on, wise men scratched their teachings on stone tablets. Then came paper and ink, and after that, electronic media. Writings, songs, poems, stories.. sung, spoken, written, danced.. dreamt, and lived. A different stroke for every kingdom, every era.
This be the kingdom of my dreams, its lands suffused with the blood that flows from my pen, the words that flow from my soul. When the night falls, the winds will whisper of tender yearnings. And at the dawning of each brand new day, the promises of the rising sun will pierce the gloom and darkness of the night, chasing the fear away.
The valleys will resonate with the the trickling of the streams that flow far below, once a mighty river, memories of a life past that lingers on. Every dear friend a mighty mountain, every love a bubbling brook, stream or river.
When the night falls, the stars adorn the nightsky in all their silent, unwavering glory, constellations of dreams that guide the lost along their way, walking by faith, living in the promise of a better tomorrow.
I dedicate this kingdom, this journey, to He who is my greatest love.
Footprints
One night a man had a dream, He dreamed that he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he saw two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest time of his life.
This really bothered him and he asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you the most you would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My son, my precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
